What is monk fruit?
Native to the mountains of Southern China, monk fruit is actually a gourd. Named for the Buddist monks that originally cultivated it hundreds of years ago, monk fruit is surprisingly sweet, yet contains no calories. Monk fruit, which is 150-200 times sweeter than sugar, gets its sweetness from mogrosides, which don’t affect blood sugar levels like sucrose and fructose. In fact, monk fruit has a zero glycemic index value, which makes it the perfect addition to a low glycemic snack like our superfood cremes.
