Named for the Buddist monks that originally cultivated it hundreds of years ago, monk fruit is surprisingly sweet, yet contains no calories and a zero glycemic index. Monk fruit yields a fine powder that is 150-200 times sweeter than sugar. Its sweetness comes from mogrosides, which don’t affect blood sugar levels like sucrose and fructose.
