A superior organic sweetener
When deciding how to sweeten our snacks, we did extensive research reviews to identify the safest (and tastiest) option. Our organic blend of erythritol and monk fruit strikes the perfect balance of flavor and benefits. And it’s diabetes- and keto-friendly!
There are a variety of low-calorie sweeteners available today, but while they purport to be healthier alternatives to traditional sugar, many cause undesirable side effects. Erythritol is the exception. This natural sugar alcohol cannot be broken down by the body and therefore does not affect blood sugar or insulin levels. Moreover, erythritol is sweet without the sugar, so it doesn’t promote tooth decay. Now that’s something to smile about!
What is erythritol?
Erythritol is a natural sugar alcohol. It contains fewer calories than other sugar alcohols and just a fraction of the calories of sugar. Together with monk fruit, erythritol gives our low glycemic snacks a sweet taste without adding sugar.
Why is erythritol a superior sweetener?
There are many mainstream plant-based sweeteners on the market, but erythritol stands above the rest. First and foremost, erythritol doesn’t cause any of the undesired side effects of the other sugar alcohols. Your body can have a hard time breaking down sugar alcohols. It’s for this reason that many of them cause digestive issues. This is not the case with erythritol. When you consume erythritol, the majority is absorbed into the bloodstream. With only a small portion making it to your gut, discomfort such as bloating and gas is avoided. Secondly, there isn’t the off-putting aftertaste that’s often associated with sweeteners. In fact, the taste profile of erythritol is very similar to sugar. This is important because we value nutrition and flavor equally. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice taste to eat healthy.
Why isn’t erythritol more common?
If you’re a health-conscious consumer, you may be familiar with the bad rap that many sweeteners have. In fact, there are some low-calorie sugar options out there that are detrimental to your health. Unfortunately, erythritol is mistakenly grouped with this lot, despite being different. Our extensive review of scientific literature confirms its safety and effect on the digestive system. It’s only a matter of time until it becomes more widely used.
Why is “no sugar added” important?
Sugar consumption is a major contributor to the growing obesity crisis around the world. Consuming an excess of sugar can increase your risk of developing type 2 diabetes and heart disease, and can be detrimental to your overall health and well-being.
We believe in a smarter way to treat yourself. Our mission to simplify eating healthy is driven by the immediate need to reduce sugar in convenience foods. Our innovative superfood snacks are sweet and satisfying, without all of the added sugar.
Why do you use erythritol with monk fruit?
When it comes to giving our superfood snacks their sweetness, the sum is greater than the parts. Monk fruit is exceptionally sweet, but in larger quantities has a distinctive flavor. Erythritol is a less powerful sweetener, but tastes like sugar. Put the two together and you have a perfectly sweet, no sugar added, low glycemic treat.
